Armed with the warmest outdoor gear available on the market, two of my great friends and I set off towards a national park located far beyond the Arctic Circle in Lapland, Finland. We drove there all the way from Copenhagen, Denmark in a car packed with warm sleeping bags and some cross-country skis from the 80’s.
We made only one stop on our way to the national park. It was at a beautiful lighthouse, located on a small island only accessible by walking across the frozen sea.
While we were in the national park, the temperature dropped to around -19°F, making it extremely difficult for us to remain outside. Thankfully our equipment kept us warm and the lovely wilderness huts were complete with fireplaces.
On our last night in the wild, the sky exploded the colors of the most beautiful northern lights I have ever seen – our mission there was complete!
